About the QNMU

The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union (QNMU) promotes and defends the interests of nurses and midwives across the state – in public and private health, and aged care.

We’re run by nurses and midwives, for nurses and midwives. With over 75,000 members, we’re proud to be Queensland’s largest union, and we fight every day to protect and advance the rights, safety, and professional interests of our members.

Whether it’s winning fair pay, improving working conditions, advocating for safe workloads, or standing up for the future of healthcare in Queensland – the QNMU is a powerful, independent voice for those who care for our communities.

We believe that when nurses and midwives are respected, supported and fairly paid, everyone benefits. Because quality care depends on a strong, valued workforce.

The QNMU recognises and respects the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the lands upon which we undertake our work to promote and defend the interests and values of members. We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians who have cared for this country for thousands of years.
